'Star Wars: The Last Jedi': Unpacking The Mythos & More [Podcast]

Welcome to another edition of The Playlist Podcast, a discussion about film news and other film and television related items.

On this episode, I’m joined by Editor-in-Chief Rodrigo Perez and Managing Editor Kevin Jagernauth to discuss the film that will be on most people’s mind throughout the holiday season: “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”

We start the conversation with some initial, non-specific thoughts on the eighth chapter in the longstanding franchise, this time directed by Rian Johnson (“Brick,” “Looper“). While we have varying opinions on the film itself, all three of us agree that it is a unique take on the sci-fi saga that feels like it is distinctly Johnson’s, and all of us also agree that the film’s attempts at humor leave much more to be desired (for more non-spoiler thoughts, you can read Kevin’s “B+” review of the film here).

At the 12:44 mark on this episode, we get into ***MAJOR SPOILERS*** for the remainder of the episode. Anything before the 12:44 mark, you can listen to before you go wait in line at your local multiplex, and then come back for the rest when you leave the theater. Once again, at 12:44, all bets are off, and we get into a ***SPOILER-FILLED DISCUSSION*** about “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”
