Welcome back to another episode of The Playlist Podcast. On this episode, I’m joined again by Playlist Editor-in-Chief Rodrigo Perez to discuss the film news that has been on everyone’s mind this week: “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”
We briefly dissect the trailer and get into some speculation before moving into the meat of this episode, which is about Netflix making their debut at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The Cannes board has rejected Netflix’s view to the theatrical experience, but two of the streaming giant’s upcoming releases (Bong Joon-ho‘s “Okja” and Noah Baumbach‘s “The Meyerowitz Stories“) will play at the festival, which prompts us to discuss the ever-changing, always-complicated merging of streaming and theatrical, as well as TV and movies.
