So, is J.J. Abrams getting his way over at Disney or what? It has already been revealed he needed some arm twisting to drop the zomg-everyone’s-talking-about-it teaser trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and we figured the movie might be on radio silence at least until closer to debut of the next trailer, reportedly in front of "The Avengers: Age Of Ultron" in the spring. We were wrong. Today comes with details on some of the character names in the movie courtesy of EW, and don’t worry, there are no spoilers unless you think even talking about ‘The Force Awakens’ is a spoiler. So let’s dive right in.
BB-8—that’s the soccer loving droid seen in the trailer, who is basically the R2-D2 of this movie.
Poe Dameron—the X-Wing pilot played by Oscar Isaac.
Kylo Ren—the hooded dude, and probable villain who holds that controversial lightsaber.
Rey—played by newcomer Daisy Ridley, seen riding that rustbucket through the desert.
Finn—played by John Boyega, who sweatily opens the new trailer.
So yeah, not exactly the most riveting of information, but still probably enough to get a certain legion of fanboys chattering. And we’re sure there are some who will argue that some of these are decoy names to throw people off or something. We doubt it. Surnames have yet to be revealed, and same goes for allegiances, but there is still a whole year to speculate and wonder.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" arrives on our planet on December 18, 2015.
