Steve Carell is set to produce and star in a remake of the 2008 Argentinian romantic comedy, “A Boyfriend for My Wife,” a box office hit in its native country.
Set up at Warner Bros., the story sounds right in familiar territory for Carell as it follows “a timid husband [who] believes the only way out of his stifling marriage is to get his wife to fall in love with another man, so he enlists the help of a legendary yet unlikely Lothario.” Mark Gibson and Phil Halprin (“Snow Dogs,” “The Wild”) have been tasked with adapting the material so keep your expectations low.
With Carell set to say farewell to “The Office” after the upcoming season, he continues to quietly line up a number of potential film projects including “Raised By Wolfs,” “Mail-Order Groom,” and a potential biopic on unlikely pop star Dennis Lambert.
