Strange Teaser Poster: Lynn Ramsay's 'We Need To Talk About Kevin'

Here’s an odd teaser poster for a film we’re highly anticipating this year: Lynn Ramsay’s “We Need To Talk About Kevin,” which stars Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly. The picture centers on a mother (Swinton) who has to deal with immense grief and anguish after her teenage son goes on a high-school killing spree. She attempts to deal with the pain and feelings of responsibility for her child’s actions by writing to her estranged husband (Reilly).

How’s the letter writing translate on film? If anyone can do it, it’s Ramsay.

The drama will be her first since “Morvern Callar,” which was released eight years ago. She almost directed “The Lovely Bones” before she walked away from the project and Peter Jackson took it over and essentially butchered it beyond redemption (it made The Playlist team’s Worst Films of 2009 list). Ramsay’s been desperately missed from cinema and both her features, including, the expressive and haunting, “Ratcatcher” are two films that also made the Playlist’s Best Films of the Decade and ranked high in both 2000 and 2oo2.

Here’s two scenes from both films, both with a musical emphasis. “Ratcatcher” is set to Nick Drake‘s excellent “Cello Song” and “Movern Callar” features Lee Hazlewood‘s classic tune, “Some Velvet Morning.”
