It’s been nearly three years since the debut of Season 3 of “Stranger Things.” Netflix warned fans that Season 4 wouldn’t come out a year after that, but thanks to the pandemic, we’ve literally waited years to see the fallout of the Battle of Starcourt. Well, thankfully, we now know when Season 4 is going to arrive, but we also got the news that the end of this story is just around the corner.
Today, Netflix announced that Season 4 of “Stranger Things” would be broken up into two parts, with the first batch debuting in May followed by the second half in July. Not terrible news, considering the long wait we’ve already endured. However, accompanying that announcement was a letter from the Duffer Brothers, the creators of “Stranger Things.” And in the letter, they announced the end of this “Stranger Things” story will happen in Season 5.

That said, that’s not the end of the franchise, as a whole.
“There are still many more exciting stories to tell in the world of ‘Stranger Things’; new mysteries, new adventures, new heroes,” the letter says. “But first, we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down. As always, we are grateful for your patience and support.”
Judging by that, it would appear that we can expect more spinoffs of “Stranger Things” in the future, just without the original cast and characters. So, while the story of Eleven is coming to an end, the Duffer Brothers are likely going to be telling “Stranger Things” stories for a while still.
The first part of Season 4 of “Stranger Things” debuts on May 27. Part 2 debuts just several weeks later on July 1. You can read the full letter below.
