Here is a great Sundance poster designed by Jeremy Saunders for David Michôd’s much-talked about suburban-gangster-drama “Animal Kingdom.”
The film stars the likes of Guy Pearce, Ben Mendelsohn, Joel Edgerton, Jacki Weaver, Luke Ford, Sullivan Stapleton and James Frecheville and centers on a 17 year old boy who must navigate his way between a crime-driven family and a cop who thinks he can save him.
Since it’s premiere, ‘Kingdom’ has built a steam train of momentum with rave reviews coming in thick and fast; from earning the label of the “first great drama at Sundance” to being described as a “smart, compelling masterwork” with “Shakespearean qualities in its portrait of betrayal and paranoia.” Mendelsohn and Weaver particularly have been drawing lavish praise even from the “flawless ensemble cast.”
With comparisons even being made to the works of Tarantino, Coppola and Scorsese, international distributions deals and subsequent success is surely just around the corner. For all those down under, meanwhile, the film will hit theaters this May. Iron who?
