It has been fourteen years since "Super Troopers" first meowed its way onto screens at the Sundance Film Festival, and ever since it became a little cult hit, the Broken Lizard have forever been talking, promising and hoping to make a sequel. Now it’s happening, but if you really want to see it, you’ll have to fork over some of your own cash.
The comedy team has launched an Indiegogo to raise $2 million dollars to help finance the film, and things are going quite well. It only launched yesterday, and at the time of publishing this article, $1.6 million dollars have been raised. With Collider reporting that 20th Century Fox has been lined up to distribute, it looks like the sequel is finally happening. But will it be any good? Frankly, all of the Broken Lizard movies following "Super Troopers" failed to create the same kind of buzz, and while I enjoyed their cop comedy in my early twenties, their antics now are less inspired. Moreover, as the "Anchorman" sequel proved, it’s not easy to capture lightning in a bottle a second time around.
But clearly, there are a lot of people looking forward to grabbing a litre o’ cola and watching this. Watch the crowdfunding video below, and share your thoughts on the followup in the comment section.
