Last week, the first full length trailer for “T2: Trainspotting” arrived and it was actually pretty great. I had been wary about what a sequel to Danny Boyle‘s ’90s classic might turn out to be, but thus far, the followup looks like a nostalgic but not overwrought reunion with Renton, Spud, Sick Boy, and Begbie. And part of that is down to the shot selection, because across the entire promo, are more callbacks to the first film than you might realize.

The folks at Really Dim have compiled a quick and compelling forty second look at the various scenes in the trailer for “T2: Trainspotting” that nod to its predecessor. Of course, there’s the iconic shot of Renton in front of the car, but there’s lots of little touches throughout, that if anything, remind me that I’m due a rewatch of “Trainspotting” very soon.
“T2: Trainspotting” opens in the UK on January 27, 2017, and will arrive in cinemas stateside on February 3, 2017 in limited release, before going wide on February 10, 2017.
