Arriving on Netflix almost exactly a year ago, the first season of ‘Sweet Tooth,’ based on the DC comic book of the same name by Jeff Lemire, proved to be an enormous hit with comic book fans and critics alike. According to What’s On Netflix, the first season of ‘Sweet Tooth’ stayed in the United States Top 10s for around 30 days, while a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes indicates its critical success too.
Returning in the show’s central role will be Christian Convery as Gus, a young human/animal hybrid with antlers and the eponymous sweet tooth. This new hybrid breed may or may not be connected to a viral outbreak known as ‘the sick’ which has brought civilization to its knees. With this catastrophe in the background, Gus and his companion, Tommy ‘Big Man’ Jepperd, played by Nonso Anozie, who has also appeared in HBO’s ‘Game Of Thrones,’ seek to avoid the General and his militia, who have made it their mission to hunt down hybrid children such as Gus.
With no major withdrawals of characters by the end of the first season, the second season’s cast is expected to remain largely unchanged, with the certainty of the show’s central characters played by Convery and Anozie returning. Despite this, What’s On Netflix has reported on casting calls for new Hybrids for the production of Season 2, including Finn Fox, Wally Walrus, Haley Mockingbird, and Jojo Cat, giving an indication of some of the new characters we can expect.
Featuring as part of this year’s Geeked Week, the show’s second season is expected to arrive on Netflix later this year. Watch the teaser for Season 2 below:
