Deadline reports that Sylvester Stallone will star in a new thriller from Mickle, previously known as “Godforsaken.” STX Entertainment is backing the project, penned by Daniel Casey, that follows an ex-con who has to protect his family after the son he hardly knew is murdered. It sounds like pretty very familiar territory, but let’s hope that like Jeremy Saulnier‘s “Blue Ruin,” there is a strong take on the premise. At any rate, Stallone seems pretty excited about it.

“It’s a privilege to be part of something that’s going to provide entertainment and artistic value,” he teased attendees at CinemaCon about the project this past spring.

The start date hasn’t been revealed, but it seems like things are moving forward to shoot soon.
