Teaser Poster For Mark Romanek's 'Never Let Me Go'

Here’s your first look at the one-sheet/teaser poster for Mark Romanek’s “Never Let Me Go,” a melancholy drama with some vague hints of sci-fi (but not enough to, you know, show at Comic-Con or anything). It’s pretty and showcases leads Andrew Garfield and It-girl Carey Mulligan running from… their problems?… but it’s honestly not that much to look at and we assume Fox Searchlight will probably release a much more straightforward poster at some point as well (presumably with Keira Knightley’s face on it, since she is the film’s biggest star).

Garfield is, obviously, the new “Spider-Man” and Mulligan is being cast or considered for almost every hot role in Hollywood, so if you’re even remotely a fan of strong acting, you should probably be paying attention to this film. Though you should be paying attention to it regardless.

Helmed by the maker of “One Hour Photo,” Romanek’s “Never Let Me Go” ranked high on our Most Anticipated of 2010 list. It boasts a phenomenal cast that aside from Mulligan (“An Education,” “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”), Knightley and Garfield (“Red Riding” trilogy, “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”) includes Sally Hawkins (“Happy Go-Lucky”), Charlotte Rampling, Nathalie Richard, and Andrea Riseborough (just note, Mulligan is actually the lead character not Knightley).

The script was penned by Alex Garland (of Danny Boyle-collaboration fame including “The Beach,” “28 Days Later” and “Sunshine”) and it evidently sports a fairly dolorous bent (Spike Jonze said he cried when he saw it). The film hits theaters on September 15, so hopefully this means it plays the Venice Film Festival or Toronto International Film Festival in advance. [Gold Derby]
