Ted Danson and Vinessa Shaw have joined what seems to be a growing ensemble cast for the animal rescue drama “Everybody Loves Whales” joining John Krasinski, Drew Barrymore, Kristen Bell and Tim Blake Nelson.
Set during the Cold War, the film is based on the true story “of a small-town news reporter (Krasinski) and a Greenpeace volunteer (Barrymore) who enlist the help of rival superpowers to save three majestic gray whales trapped under the ice of the Arctic Circle.” Nelson will play a wildlife expert in the film, with Danson joining as animal-hating oilman and Shaw playing a White House staffer trying to get the administration to do something about the whales. No word yet on Bell’s role in the film.
Ken Kwapis (“The Office,” “He’s Just Not That Into You”) is directing the film with shooting beginning this month in Alaska. [THR]
