Well, this is kind of obvious, but if anything, it's another reminder that Oscar host Seth MacFarlane was behind one of the biggest comedy hits of 2012. That's right, the director of "Ted" is gearing up to bring his offbeat brand of comedy to a primetime cable event, and to help out is the little creature that helped push his directorial debut to over $500 million.
Mark Wahlberg dropped by "Anderson Live" this week to promote "Broken City," and he revealed that, "Ted and I will be appearing at the Oscars." This is followed by Anderson Cooper trying to be funny and failing. The other little tidbit Wahlberg drops is that the already confirmed "Ted" sequel is indeed underway, and a script is being written, because obviously. While we certainly invite any opportunity to spice up the usually stuffy Oscar telecast, we're really curoius to see how the standard audience of Olds that watches the Oscars will react to a stuffed teddy bear and Mark Wahlberg doing some shenanigans. But it can't be worse than an interpretive dance number, that's for sure. No word yet on Peter Griffin and if he'll be stopping by.
The Oscars air on Sunday, February 24th. [Deadline]
