Shooting To Commence This Month In Sydney & Cambodia
After being linked early on, rising Australian thespians Teresa Palmer and Joel Edgerton are now confirmed to be joining Kieran Darcy-Smith‘s directorial debut “Say Nothing” with Felicity Price and Antony Starr rounding out the cast for the psychological drama.
The film is the latest in the line of projects from the renegade filmmaking collaborative Blue Tongue Films — who have recently put out the likes of Nash Edgerton‘s neo-noir thriller “The Square,” David Michod‘s family crime-drama “Animal Kingdom” and Spencer Susser‘s dark-comedy “Hesher” — with lensing set to begin imminently in Sydney before moving on location in Cambodia in January.
“Joel and Teresa round out an incredibly exciting team for us. We’re lucky to be working with such a remarkable group of talented artists, cast and crew, who are giving their all,” actor-turned-director Darcy-Smith said in a statement before adding to the The Australian that he has “been waiting for the pressure but I don’t feel much pressure yet because it all seems to be falling into place. The places we’re shooting are pretty crazy, the badlands [near the southern Cambodian coastal town, Sihanoukville]. It’s really important to me that it’s a credible world and a credible story and shooting Cambodia in Sydney just wasn’t going to cut it.”
“Say Nothing” was also written by Darcy-Smith with his lead actress/real-life partner Price. An early synopsis for the feature reads as follows with Edgerton and Palmer set to respectively star as Dave and Steph while Price and Starr presumably play Alice and Jeremy.
Four friends lose themselves in a carefree South-East Asian holiday. Only three come back. Dave and Alice return home to their young family desperate for answers about Jeremy’s mysterious disappearance. When Alice’s sister Steph returns not long after, a nasty secret is revealed about the night her boyfriend went missing. But it is only the first of many. Who amongst them knows what happened on that fateful night when they were dancing under a full moon in Cambodia?
Darcy-Smith has also been posting pictures from his South East Asian scouting expedition on the film’s Facebook page with these two photos unveiled of Edgerton — though they do look they come from a photoshoot that isn’t necessarily “Say Nothing”-related.
