With a release date now all sewn up for Paramount's we-really-hope-it's-not-actually-called "Jack Ryan," it seems production on the movie is now off and running hard, and the studio has dropped a look at the lead character for a new generation.
Previously incarnated by Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin and Ben Aflleck, Chris Pine will now step in the shoes of Tom Clancy's famed character, but this film, which Paramount hopes will start a trilogy, will rewind things back a bit and have us see the character before he gets recruited to work for the government. This Jack Ryan will be a financial analyst working in Moscow who discovers his boss (Kenneth Branagh, who is also directing) plans an attack on the United States in an effort to destabalize the economy and tries to stop it. Along for the ride is Keira Knightley as his wife and Kevin Costner as the dude who recruits him to stop terrorism on an official basis.
Thoughts? There's nothing particularly sizzling about this snap, but hey, this thing just started rolling. Much more to come as "Jack Ryan" aims for a Christmas Day 2013 release. Updated: A second image has arrived via Paramount.
