It’s here! Oscar Sunday is here! It’s raining in LA, but they are keeping dry on the red carpet. Finally all the speculation and campaigning for 2015 will be put to rest and the cycle can begin anew. After the Independent Spirit Awards yesterday, it seems like things are pretty locked up in terms of the major winners, so we are hoping that host Neil Patrick Harris has some tricks up his sleeve to keep things interesting. Check out our final predictions to see what we think will win tonight, and we will also be updating all the winners as they come in. Stick with us for all the commentary, winners, and random observations on the awards that only we can bring!
5:00 PM: Here we go! The carpet may be soggy but the nominees are managing to stay dry. We’ve already marinated our brains in prosecco, so LET’S. DO. THIS.
5:02 PM: Lupita Nyong’o has got to be the best dressed of the night. Her pearl dress is an entity I would like to worship as a deity.
5:18: Lady Gaga in formal dishwashing gloves. She better bring the wacky tonight.
5:24: PATRICIA. YOU ARE GOING TO WIN AN OSCAR TONIGHT. GET YOUR HAIR DID.
5:31: NPH’s musical number addresses tweeting. Thank you for acknowledging us.
5:33: THANK GOD FOR JACK BLACK. Theater kids. v. rockers rumble.
5:36: Watching Storm Troopers do choreography is a unique pleasure.
5:38: STEDMAN SIGHTING!
5:40: Bringing back the clips for performance awards: YES.
5:42: Partial standing O for JK Simmons winning Best Supporting Actor. Damn. That’s cold.
5:47: Liam Neeson presenting Best Picture nominations is…mildly terrifying.
5:49: I kind of wish NPH didn’t look so satisfied with himself whenever he lands a punchline.
5:50: Adam Levine is torturing our ears. Time for a drink refill/bathroom break.
5:58: Grand Budapest Hotel picks up the Best Costume Design. 4 Time Oscar winner Milena Canonero picks up the award in a shiny bathrobe and sequin pants, natch.
6:02: Grand Budapest Hotel wins Best Makeup for Tony Revolori’s eyeliner mustache.
6:12: First person to get played off is the guy from IDA, AND HE JUST KEEPS GOING. He bests the band!
6:13: So… why are they presenting the Best Pics two at a time?
6:17: I LOVE that Marion Cotillard presents "Everything is Awesome."
6:19: Tegan and Sarah + Lonely Island + Devo + Questlove = Everything is Awesome
6:25: Kerry Washington and The Most Well-Adjusted Former Child Star in the Room (Jason Bateman) are brought out to present the Best Live Action Short to two of the wackiest Brits the Oscars have ever seen. Damn they are livening this thing up, though.
6:28: I love how Travolta shows up with that hair like we ALL haven’t seen that late night gym selfie.
6:30 Way to bring it down Pom-pom dress. That shut up the orchestra right quick.
6:36: David Oyelowo as one of the bellhops from Grand Budapest Hotel… and Gwyneth Paltrow as an extra from Dynasty
6:42: NPH doing his best Birdman Undies scene. Tryna get some leverage out of that Hedwig diet, eh? Also, he had to have been PISSED when Kristen Bell and Fred snaked him on that bit at the Spirits.
6:46: Whiplash takes sound mixing. Cool, I guess that’s a movie about sounds.
6:49: Waldorf and Statler win best Sound Editing for American Sniper!
7:00: I hate to say it, but NPH is terrible. Can we call Ellen to pinch hit and bring pizza and selfies or whatever.
7:11: Did they have to sew two tuxes together to fit the Rock? Excuse me, Dwayne Johnson?
7:32: Meryl Streep presents the "That Guy Died?" Segment

7:48: Terrence Howard, I appreciate both your Man Bro-och and your intense emphatic delivery about The Imitation Game.
7:51: Best Doc and Best Gloves go to Laura Poitras
8:03: Finally a not terrible musical number! And Best Single Tear to Chris Pine!
8:07: John Stevens and Lonnie Lynn? Damn, The Academy blowin’ up their shit.
8:11: Gotta love the heartfelt standing ovation by the clearly moved Academy voters who didn’t vote for Selma as Best Picture.
8:16: Somehow Lady Gaga doing Sound of Music makes so much sense.
8:20: This is going for another 2 hours, isn’t it?
8:25: This is why they cut the musical numbers in years past. It goes on way too long. Why did they add them back in?
8:32: Eddie Murphy as Dorian Gray (the man doesn’t age!)
8:40: Inarittu takes Best Director! Birdman cleaning up tonight. The Academy <3 movies about movies. Those Real Michael Keaton tightie whities are quite the good luck charm.

9:00: No one cares about your Oscar predictions, NPH.
9:01: Oh my god, make this end.
9:06: "Who gave this son of a bitch his green card?" Sean Penn has quite a way of presenting Best Pic to Inarittu/Birdman.
9:10: Inarittu making a statement for immigration reform. Obama smiles.
