The line-up for the 54th Directors’ Fortnight selection was announced this morning by General Delegate Paolo Moretti and his selection committee. On top of the previously announced opening night film, Pietro Marcello‘s “Scarlet,” he being the director of the well-regarded “Martin Eden” festival film, highlights from the films announced include Alex Garland‘s much-anticipated psychological horror “Men,” starring Jessie Buckley, a woman who retreats to the English countryside following the death of her husband. Garland is known for “Ex-Machina” and “Devs,” and the inclusion of this big a24 film is a big boon for the Director’s Fortnight.

Additional titles of interest include a debut film by Owen Kline, titled “Funny Pages,” perhaps best remembered as the little boy in “The Squid And The Whale,” a new film from French Canadian actress Charlotte Le Bon called “Falcon Lake” and Léa Mysius‘ “The Five Devils” which stars Adèle Exarchopoulos.
