The American Dream In A Can: Trailer For Indie 'Syrup' With Amber Heard & Shiloh Fernandez

Amber Heard and movies based on cult novels don't seem to fit so well together. "The Informers," based on Bret Easton Ellis' book, was largely ignored, while "The Rum Diary" didn't manage to bring much life to Hunter S. Thompson's work. And now comes "Syrup," which brings Max Barry's novel to the big screen, and this trailer suggests that Heard might be going 0-3.

Co-starring Shiloh Fernandez and Kellan Lutz, and directed by Aram Rappaport, the story follows Scat (Fernandez) who discovers the idea for a new soda beverage named, uh, Fukk Cola. He pitches it to 6 (yes, that's her name, and she's played by Heard), the production manager at Coke, who agrees that it has massive potential to make them rich. But Scat's roommate Sneaky Pete sees this opportunity for wealth and corporate ascension, and steals the idea and takes it the bigwigs himself. In case you haven't figured it out by now, this is supposed to be a satire of the business world or something, and while Brad Pitt, Winona Ryder, Tom Cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow all make appearances in the book, something tells us this indie flick didn't manage to bag them.

No release date or distributor yet for this one, but you can watch the trailer below. Our guess? It will be among the films at Sundance in a few months. [Vlicious!]
