'The Boys: Diabolical' Teaser: Three Multiversal Homelanders Meet... And Make Out In Upcoming Spinoff

The Boys” is a superhero TV show that fits snugly in the satirical subgenre. The series takes swipes at all sorts of superhero tropes. (Season 2 saw the superheroes trying to film a ‘Justice League’-esque film that was truly terrible, for example.) And there’s a moment in the new ‘Diabolical’ animated spinoff teaser that seems to poke fun at the new multiverse trend we’ve seen in recent films like “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” But this time, it’s a lot more…sensual.

Much like the previous teaser for “The Boys: Diabolical,” the new footage is less of a trailer and more of a clip, showing how the animated anthology is going to amp up the humor and ridiculousness of the original series in ways that might shock folks. Case in point: the fact that the new teaser, which is an animated TV commercial for an in-universe burger joint, shows three versions of Homelander (this universe’s Superman) meeting each other…and then making out with each other.

Obviously, you have to assume the creators had no idea that “Spider-Man: No Way Home” would be the biggest film of the past couple of years and feature three versions of Spider-Man meeting for the first time. It’s clear this is a swipe at the recent trend of multiversal versions of heroes meeting, but this time, it’s just so silly and gratuitously erotic, you can’t help but laugh.

If this is what we can expect in the first season of ‘Diabolical,’ the first spinoff of “The Boys” looks to fit perfectly in the universe that has been established while offering a new look at one of the most interesting and silly superhero worlds we have in film and TV.

“The Boys: Diabolical” debuts on Amazon Prime Video on March 4.
