Apple TV+ has made it abundantly clear that it is really only interested in original films and TV series that have superstar talent attached. That would include the newest series, “The Changeling,” which has just received the green light from the streaming service.
According to Deadline, Apple TV+ is ready to move ahead with a new series, “The Changeling,” which will be directed by Melina Matsoukas and will star LaKeith Stanfield. Based on the novel of the same name from author Victor LaValle, “The Changeling” tells the story of a bookseller (Stanfield) that is coming to terms with his role as a struggling business owner, loving husband, and new father. However, after a personal tragedy, he gets thrust into a deeply emotional journey through a version of New York City you didn’t know exists.
“The Changeling” is produced and written by Kelly Marcel, who will also serve as showrunner. Marcel is probably best known for her work as the co-writer on films such as “Saving Mr. Banks,” “Venom,” “Cruella,” and the upcoming “Venom: Let There Be Carnage.” Matsoukas is the acclaimed filmmaker that broke out with her recent feature, “Queen & Slim.”
Stanfield is one of the best actors working today, earning acclaim for his role on the TV series, “Atlanta,” as well as features such as “Knives Out,” “Uncut Gems,” “Sorry to Bother You,” and “Judas and the Black Messiah.” The latter of which earned him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination earlier this year. His next project is the highly-anticipated Netflix Western, “The Harder They Fall.”
No release date has been set for Apple TV+’s “The Changeling.” However, with all of these folks involved, you better believe we’ll be keeping an eye out for any news regarding the series.
