It’s hard to imagine that the iconic “Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb” could have come wrapped in a different title, but here is hard evidence that a few other possibilities crossed Stanley Kubrick’s mind. Someone has excavated this one-sheet brainstorm in the writer-director’s own handwriting with titles such as “Wonderful Bomb,” “Strangelove: Nuclear Wiseman,” and “Dr. Strangelove’s Secret Uses of Uranus.” Let’s just say, we think he benefited from the process of trial and error.
