In a move that feels very much at home but Barry Allen, “The Flash” movie lost one parent but gained another. While Billy Crudup will not be reprising his role as Henry Allen in the upcoming film, “Y Tu Mamá También” actress Maribel Verdu has joined the cast as Barry’s mother, Nora, instead.

The Hollywood Reporter has the news on Verdu being cast as Barry Allen’s mother, Nora, and Crudup dropping out. This news comes just a day after it was announced that Kiersey Clemons will reprise her role as Iris West in “The Flash” after she had originated the role in “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.” Crudup, who also played Henry Allen for the first time in “Justice League” (and will also appear in the same role in the Snyder Cut of the film) reportedly had to drop out of the film due to scheduling conflicts with the new season of Apple’s “The Morning Show.” According to THR, the part will be recast.
But what about Nora Allen? Well, that is arguably the biggest supporting role in “The Flash,” especially since they are going with a story influenced by the “Flashpoint” comic. Remember that Nora Allen is supposed to be dead by the time “Justice League” begins, so it is likely that The Flash will travel back in time to save his mom, inadvertently changing the timeline and getting involved in some alternate universe shenanigans.
