'The Hobbit: There And Back Again' Moves Back 5 Months, 'The Wolf Of Wall Street' Lands Oscar Ready Date

nullWell, get out the pencil and eraser, because some dates are changing, and the biggest one of them all means you’ll have to wait even longer for the finale of Peter Jackson‘s return to Middle Earth.

Originally set to drop sevens months after “The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug,” Warner Bros. have pushedThe Hobbit: There Are Back Again” from July 18, 2014 to December 17, 2014. So yes, that means three holiday season hobbit movies over three years, and more time for Peter Jackson to overstuff his movie with endless extensions, special effects and frame rates to burn your eyeballs off.

As you’ve seen, we’ve been predicting the Oscar race for next year because we’re obsessive types, and one movie that that we think is a strong contender for Best Picture is Martin Scorsese‘s “The Wolf Of Wall Street.” And Paramount think so too, stamping the movie for November 15, 2013. Leonardo DiCaprio leads the movie as a hot shot stockbroker who spirals out of control (is there any other kind?) with an ace supporting cast backing him up, including folks like Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Kyle Chandler, Jon Favreau, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Cristin Milioti and more.

Some other quick changes: “Kick-Ass 2” movies back six weeks or so from June 28th to August 16th; Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington‘s brodown “2 Guns” moves up from August 16th to August 2nd, while the we-totally-forgot-about-this-movie “R.I.P.D.” with Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges will still arrive on July 19th but it will now be in 3D, because duh.
