With 2020 finally coming to a close, The Playlist Podcast adds one more Best Of list to the pile. Well, not so much a Best Of, but instead, Charles, Mike, and Brian talk about the only list that “New Mutants” might find itself on this year, the Most Disappointing Films of 2020.
Thanks to the collective brains at The Playlist, we have narrowed the list down to 10 (plus some dishonorable mentions) films that utterly and completely disappointed us this year. No, these aren’t the worst films of the year. That’s an entirely different list that would most definitely include “Jiu Jitsu.” Instead, the hosts break down some of the most anticipated films of the year that arrived and depressed the hell out of us. Yes, “New Mutants” is part of the list, as are “Hillbilly Elegy,” “Unhinged,” “The Hunt,” and more.

In addition to those films, the hosts end the podcast (and 2020) on a happy note by naming their favorite films of the year and a few under-the-radar choices that you should definitely check out while you’re bracing yourself for 2021 and beyond.
