Who better to go to when you’re feeling overwhelming grief and loss than your local veterinarian? As odd as that might sound, that’s exactly what a woman needs in the new film, “The Starling.”
As seen in the trailer for “The Starling,” the film stars Melissa McCarthy and Chris O’Dowd as a couple dealing with a tragedy. While O’Dowd’s character finds himself under the supervision of medical health professionals at a local hospital, McCarthy’s character finds solace speaking to a veterinarian, who helps her figure out her grief and move forward with her life.
The drama is a reunion of sorts for its stars Melissa McCarthy and Chris O’Dowd. The duo previously worked together in the film “Bridesmaids,” though both in supporting roles. Joining them in the cast are Kevin Kline, Timothy Olyphant, Daveed Diggs, Skyler Gisondo, Loretta Devine, Laura Harrier, Rosalind Chao, and Kimberly Quinn. “The Starling” is directed by Theodore Melfi, who is probably best known for his previous films, “Hidden Figures” and “St. Vincent.” The latter of which stars McCarthy.
“The Starling” is one of over 40 new films coming to Netflix this fall, in a slate that was announced just yesterday. So, if you’re one of the many people that are still apprehensive about going to theaters, the biggest streaming platform in the world has you covered with new content coming at you at a breakneck pace over the next several months.
