'The Witcher' First Look Images: Henry Cavill Dives Into The Realm Of Fantasy In Netflix's Upcoming Series

Netflix is set to launch its first major leap into the world on adult-themed fantasy, trying to fill the void of “Game of Thrones,” with “The Witcher” later this year. And in honor of San Diego Comic-Con coming later this month, the streaming service has finally given fans a chance to take a first look at what is coming.

“The Witcher” tells the story of Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter that is trying to find his place in the world. He’s joined on his quest by a young princess and a powerful sorceress. The series is based on the popular novel series and video game series. And to make matters even more interesting, Netflix has scored Henry Cavill to play Geralt, marking his first major TV series since he played Superman in the DCEU.

Joining Cavill in the cast are Anya Cholatra, Freya Allan, Jodhi May, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Adam Levy, MyAnna Buring, Mimi Ndiweni, Therica Wilson-Read, Emma Appleton, Eamon Farren, Joey Batey, Lars Mikkelsen, Royce Pierreson, Maciej Musiał, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte, and Anna Shaffer.

The series is created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who is also set to produce and showrun “The Witcher.” You’re probably most familiar with her work on the failed Netflix series “The Defenders,” as well as the popular “The Umbrella Academy.”
