With only two films under his belt, Jordan Peele has such a distinct style that he’s his own horror subgenre already. But there are definitely new projects coming out that feel very much like “Jordan Peele Film.” One of those is the upcoming Amazon series, “Them.”
As seen in the teaser trailer for “Them,” the series follows the story of a Black family in the 1950s that moves to a very white suburb in Los Angeles. And as you might expect, the arrival of the family isn’t met with the most open of arms. Then at the very end, there’s the tease of a malevolent force of some kind. All told, it’s pretty creepy stuff, for sure. And yes, it does have a sort of Jordan Peele vibe to it all. Whether that’s just a way the trailer is cut or if “Them” does sort of mimic the style is still not known. Regardless, it appears that Amazon has something pretty interesting on deck next month.
The new series stars Deborah Ayorinde, Ashley Thomas, Alison Pill, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Melody Hurd, and Ryan Kwanten. “Them” comes from creator and producer Little Marvin. He’s joined by superstar writer-producer Lena Waithe. As mentioned, this is an anthology series, so the first season will be set in the 1950s with other time periods explored in future installments.
“Them” debuts on Amazon Prime Video on April 9. You can watch the teaser below.
Here’s the synopsis:

The 1950s set first season centers on a Black family who moves from North Carolina to an all-white Los Angeles neighborhood during the period known as The Great Migration.
