Partly due to the Trayvon Martin case and also because their hands are already full with "Prometheus," which comes out a month before, Fox has been kind of quiet on "Neighborhood Watch." Until now. They've dropped a foul-mouthed and pretty fucking hilarious red band trailer for the movie that suddenly has put this one on our radar. And oh, by the way, it's now called "The Watch."
The premise is pretty simple: Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade (Brit comic and director behind "Submarine") run a neighborhood watch and must fight off an alien invasion. But honestly? If this movie were just these four dudes sitting around talking, we'd watch it and probably piss our pants. The quartet show an easy, raunchy chemistry (the conversation about finding out what the old man is hiding is amazing) and frankly, the alien stuff is the least interesting aspect. We hope the funny stuff continues once the sci-fi plot kicks into play, but if there is anyone who can handle high concept and keep it absurd, it's Lonely Island member, 'SNL' vet, and "Hot Rod" director Akiva Schaffer.
