To say the first two trailers for Reed Morano’s post-apocalyptic “I Think We’re Alone Now” have been cryptic is an understatement. The first teaser featured some haunting sparse narration as we watch Peter Dinklage walk down an abandoned street, cautiously, as he approaches a car accident. Then nothing. And now, with the second teaser, we get a little bit more context, but again, a whole lot of teasing.

The second teaser (courtesy of Bloody Disgusting) finally gives viewers a look at Elle Fanning, who co-stars with Dinklage, as the only other survivor of an unknown global catastrophe that left Dinklage apparently alone in his small town. But as we see, Fanning joins Dinklage now and he’s not so receptive to her company, as he’s concerned about where she comes from and how she survived.
Joining Dinklage and Fanning in the decidedly small cast are acclaimed actors Paul Giamatti and Charlotte Gainsbourg. The film comes from filmmaker Reed Morano, who made her directorial debut with the film. She’s the Emmy-winning director of “The Handmaid’s Tale” and is also finishing work on a new action film starring Blake Lively, titled “The Rhythm Section.”
The film debuted earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, where it received pretty good reviews. “I Think We’re Alone Now” is scheduled to hit select theaters next month, before its September 21 release on VOD.
Here’s the synopsis:
Del (Peter Dinklage) is alone in the world. After the human race is wiped out, he lives in his small, empty town, content in his solitude and the utopia he’s methodically created for himself — until he is discovered by Grace (Elle Fanning), an interloper whose history and motives are obscure. Worse yet, she wants to stay.
