While everyone assumed the ‘Harold & Kumar’ series was dead when Kal Penn gave up his glamorous acting career to be a meager associate director in the White House’s Public Liaison Office, a recent press release says otherwise, confirming that the series will indeed be back for a third installment.
According to EW, Warner Brothers has confirmed a November 5th, 2010 release date for “A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas,” which will star Neil Patrick Harris, Kal Penn and John Cho. The inclusion of NPH has been the only real “secret” revealed about this series.
After the surprise hit “Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle,” a film that launched the careers of stars John Cho and Kal Penn and began the comeback of Neil Patrick Harris by portraying him as a sex-crazed, drug saturated parody of himself, the duo returned for the mediocre, but still amusing-for-cheap-laughs “Harold & Kumar Escaped from Guantanamo Bay,” a film that still grossed over $38 million. The story broke last summer that the duo were set to reprise their roles in a third film, but the “plot” was kept under wraps, we now assume it will have something to do with Christmas, weed, angst-filled relationships and Neil Patrick Harris having heterosexual sex.
