After the success of Marvel’s latest theater release, “Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness” (2022), fans of the MCU are looking forward to the studio’s next big outing, “Thor: Love and Thunder.”
Directed by Taika Waititi, who’s been thought to have brought Thor back to greatness with his previous movie, “Thor: Ragnarok” (2017). Waititi is known for films such as “Jojo Rabbit” (2018), “What We Do In The Shadows” (2010), and “Our Flag Means Death” (2022).
Waititi has also directed episodes of “The Mandalorian” (2020), with a new Star Wars trilogy confirmed in the coming years too.
“Thor: Love and Thunder” will be set after the previous movie, “Thor: Ragnarok” and continues from the events of “Avengers: Endgame” (2019).
Here’s the official synopsis:
Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Thor attempts to find inner peace, but must return to action and recruit Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane Foster—who has become the Mighty Thor—to stop Gorr the God Butcher from eliminating all gods.
“Thor: Love and Thunder” will feature elements from the comic Mighty Thor by Jason Aaron. Producer, Kevin Feige, said the film would include elements from the comics and the storyline of Jane Foster becoming Mighty Thor.
Natalie Portman will be returning to the franchise after not appearing in the third installment and both Avengers movies. Portman portrayed Jane Foster in the first movie “Thor” (2011) and in the sequel “Thor: Dark World” (2014).
The Guardians of the Galaxy will also be making an appearance in this movie, with Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillian, Sean Gunn, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper set to return.
Here’s the full cast: Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Taika Waititi, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Jeff Goldblum, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper.
“Thor: Love and Thunder” is set to release on July 8, 2022.
