Alan Taylor has made quite a name for himself over the years by working on some fantastic TV shows. “The Sopranos,” “Game of Thrones,” and “Mad Men” are just three examples of a vast resume which dates all the way back to “Homicide: Life on the Street” from the mid-’90s. After almost three full decades of working in television, next month’s “Thor: The Dark World” (our review) will mark Taylor’s blockbuster film debut. Overall, it seems Taylor’s experience on the film has been nothing but positive. However, Bleeding Cool has recently discovered that Alan Taylor is not exactly in love with the now standard mid-credits tag/teaser scene in the film.
The site’s Brendon Connelly had a chance to speak with both Alan Taylor and Marvel boss Kevin Feige. They asked Taylor if he directed the tag in the middle of the credits, Taylor’s response? “I absolutely did not. I am very happy to not take responsibility.” What follows after that is a pretty amusing little exchange:
BC: So was that James Gunn?
AT: I wouldn’t blame it on James Gunn.
BC: Blame?
AT: Er… I wouldn’t attribute it to James Gunn… it’s clearly his sets and his characters…
BC: So you’re not quite comfortable with it?
AT: I am very happy not to take responsibility for that…
BC: It’s a different tone for sure, huh?
AT: It’s a different tone. I would have shot it differently. But I think it’s cool that it reaches out and touches that other universe. That universe is coming. The Guardians universe is really cool and wacky… but that sequence in the credits, I would say, is the only part of the movie where I’m happy to give the credit away…
Connelly then went to Kevin Feige to get more clarification as to who directed the mid-credits tag and Feige confirmed that the director was James Gunn. Gunn, for those who aren’t aware, is the director of Marvel’s upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Either way, it seems the tag does not sit too well with director Alan Taylor, who apparently is not a fan of the way the scene ties in with his own movie. At any rate, you’ll get to check out that scene, along with the rest of “Thor: The Dark World,” when the movie comes out on November 4th. In the meantime, a brand new clip from the film has arrived and you can check it out below.
