Taylor Sheridan is one of the most respected filmmakers working in Hollywood today. His unique brand of storytelling, typically focused on violence amongst everyday people in rural areas, has struck a chord with a ton of film fans, after seeing his writing in projects such as “Hell or High Water,” “Wind River,” and “Yellowstone.” Now, he is set to return with a new feature, “Those Who Wish Me Dead,” which is arriving on HBO Max next month.
And with the film just over a month away, the folks at EW have provided a couple of first-look photos that show the star of “Those Who Wish Me Dead,” Angelina Jolie dealing with the impact of a wildfire in Montana. But considering this is a film from Taylor Sheridan, did you really think it would only be about one woman trying to fend off a fiery blaze? No, sir. “Those Who Wish Me Dead” not only features a deadly fire but also tells the story of a smokejumper, Hannah, who is forced to protect a young boy on the run from two assassins.
While filming the feature, and doing scenes with real fire, the actress explained how the production taught her to have even more respect for those who fight fires for a living.
“The first day we were in the fire, [I noticed] the heat and how quickly the winds would change and how quickly the fire would suddenly take to a tree that you weren’t expecting,” Jolie said. “Our respect just grew day after day for these people on the front lines and how difficult this work is.”
Jolie is joined by Nicholas Hoult, Aidan Gillen, Jon Bernthal, Tyler Perry, Medina Shenghore, Jake Weber, and Finn Little in the cast of the film. Taylor Sheridan is the writer and director. “Those Who Wish Me Dead” is based on Michael Koryta’s 2014 novel of the same name. The film is expected to arrive on HBO Max on May 14.
