TIFF 2010 Unveiled: Redford's 'Conspirator,' Hooper's 'King's Speech,' Cameron Mitchell's 'Rabbit Hole,' Aronfsky's 'Black Swan' Among Line-Up

The Toronto International Film Festival has officially unveiled the first part of its line-up for 2010 with no major surprises, but lots of great films we’re looking forward to.

Major world premieres include Robert Redford’s “The Conspirator,” Guillaume Canet’s “Little White Lies” and George Hickenlooper’s “Casino Jack” but the fest will also screen the likes of Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan,” John Madden’s “The Debt,” Ben Affleck’s “The Town” and Tom Hooper’s period drama”The King’s Speech” starring Colin Firth under its Gala umbrella.

Screening as a Special Presentation will be films by way of Cannes such as Mike Leigh’s “Another Year,” Alejandro Gonzalez Innarittu’s “Biutiful,” Stephen Frears’s “Tamara Drewe” and Derek Cianfrance’s “Blue Valentine” with other highlights including Ryan Fleck & Anna Boden’s “It’s Kind Of A Funny Story,” Mark Romanek’s “Never Let Me Go,” John Cameron Mitchell’s grief drama “Rabbit Hole” starring Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart, Julian Schnabel’s “Miral,” Tran Anh Hung’s “Norweigan Wood,” Malcolm Venville’s “Henry’s Crime” and Woody Allen’s “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger.”

The biggest surprise of the whole line-up would probably be Michael Winterbottom’s “The Trip,” a film that has seemingly flown under most radars and apparently features a reunion for the director with Steve Coogan. Obviously Terrence Malick’s “The Tree Of Life” continues to elude as does Peter Weir’s “The Way Back,” Dustin Lance Black’s “What’s Wrong With Virginia,” Clint Eastwood’s “Hereafter” and Bruce Robinson’s “The Rum Diary” — all of which were films that were even being talked about for Cannes earlier this year — though who knows, they still could be announced closer to the event.
