The question of legacy drives “Ravens,” a coming of age drama gearing up to make its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. And today we have an exclusive clip from the movie that will be screening as part of the festival’s Discovery slate of programming.
Written and directed by Jens Assur, and starring Reine Brynolfsson, Maria Heiskanen and Jacob Nordström, the takes viewers to 1970s Sweden where an aging farmer hopes his son will take over the family trade, while the young man has dreams of his own. This scene sets the stage for what promises to be an intimate drama. Here’s the official synopsis:
1970s, Sweden- Hard working farmer Agne (played by acclaimed actor Reine Brynolfsson) struggles with the harsh reality of his daily life, hoping his teenage son Klas will take over the farm and continue his legacy.
Klas however, dreams of a world far away from this rural existence.
Sumptuously lensed, this powerful coming of age story, written and directed by Jens Assur, paints a tangled web of shame, guilt, madness and the dreams of youth.
“Ravens” will debut at TIFF on Saturday, September 9th.
