The death of “Glee” star Cory Monteith of an apparent drug overdose after a stint in rehab is still rippling throughout Hollywood. Since then, questions have been raised about the status of his few remaining projects he completed before his untimely death. One of his final projects, entitled “McCanick,” might hit a bit too close to home; it follows a young man (Monteith), a former drug addict and murderer released from prison, and the one cop (David Morse) determined to get rid of him before a dark secret can be revealed.
The trailer has just been released and the film appears intense, gritty and sad overall. Regardless of whether you’re a fan of “Glee” or not, it’s still a shame to see Monteith’s potential and realize it will remain unfulfilled. He only has one line in the trailer, but he appears to have gotten deep into the character from a physical standpoint. The film also stars the previously mentioned David Morse, looking incredibly determined, alongside Ciaran Hinds and Mike Vogel.
The film will be showing at the Toronto International Film Festival with another Monteith film, “All the Wrong Reasons,” also slated to play. We’ll see what the verdict is on those pictures in just a few weeks. [First Showing]
