Tilda Swinton & Luca Guadagnino Get Financing For Next Film, An Homage To Director Michael Powell

While we’ve been pre-emptively drooling over the trailers and poster art for the forthcoming Tilda Swinton and Luca Guadagnino film “I Am Love,” it appears the duo have lined up financing for their next film which promises to be just as gorgeous and lush. And no, it’s not the rumored remake of “Auntie Mame.”

Speaking with TimeOut London, Swinton revealed that financing has been secured for her next project with Luca Guadagnino which “will be shot in England and Wales and will be a homage to Michael Powell.” If you aren’t familiar with the films of Michael Powell, his work with Emeric Pressburger is some of the most fantastical and sumptuously photographed films in cinematic history. If you haven’t seen them start with “The Red Shoes,” easily the most dazzling display of the duo’s work.

With backing now in place, we imagine work on the film will begin sometime this year. We’re always pleased when directors and actors with ambition and passion for cinema find a way to get their films made, and we’d definitely welcome more from Swinton and Guadagnino. “I Am Love” hits UK cinemas this Friday, April 9th and will be released stateside on June 18th.
