No one is every really, truly dead and nothing is ever really finished in the Marvel-verse. It seems this policy extends to movies that for the most part the studio would like to pretend were never produced or released. Two separate efforts at standalone Hulk movies fizzled with fans and audiences, and even though Mark Ruffalo has revitalized the Bruce Banner character in "The Avengers," Marvel has been very cagey about developing a new film as such. However, it seems they toyed with the idea of bringing back one particular bad guy.
Crave recently chatted with "Selma" star Tim Roth, and the actor revealed the idea of bringing back his Emil Blonsky/Abomination character from "The Incredible Hulk" for "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" was kicked around. "They were going to do it. They did do that. They were thinking, in ‘The Avengers 2’ or something," Roth said. "There was a movie we could do that at one point, but way back when. It just kind of got swept under the carpet I guess. That would be hilarious."
We don’t know about "hilarious" per se, but it is interesting to consider that Kevin Feige and co. were considering a clear reference to a movie that is mostly forgotten in realm of Marvel’s expanding world. It would’ve been a curious path to go down, no doubt.
Speaking of which, Vin Diesel has stoked fan chatter by teasing a role on Facebook in Marvel’s upcoming "The Inhumans." Check it out:
Lastly, James Gunn can’t keep off social media either, and during a chat with fans on Facebook (via Flickering Myth), he was asked if he was able to direct an DC Comics movies, and if so, which one would he want to do. “I am precluded. Would have loved to have done ‘Shazam,’ ” he said. And who wouldn’t want to work with Dwayne Johnson?
