Timothy Scott Bogart already has a busy Cannes Film Festival, showing off his film, “Spinning Gold,” a documentary about his father, Casablanca Records founder Neil Bogart, to potential buyers. And it appears that Bogart is just getting started, as he already has his following two projects lined up, according to Variety.

After “Spinning Gold,” Bogart will produce “North Star,” a semi-autobiographical drama set in 1960s Ireland by Jim Sheridan. Sheridan takes inspiration from his childhood for the family drama about a young man on the cusp of adulthood whose family takes in a teenage orphan. It’s Sheridan’s first film since 2016’s “The Secret Scripture.” U2’s Bono and The Edge are in talks to provide original music for the film. Sheridan plans to start shooting the movie in Ireland early next year.
And Bogart also has his next directing job lined up. He’ll write and direct “Marian,” a period musical about Robin Hood and Maid Marian’s love affair set to modern pop music. As Robin Hood tales typically do, the musical focuses on King Richard’s 20-year-old niece instead of her outlaw beau. Grammy-winning songwriter Evan Bogart, the man behind Beyoncé‘s “Halo” and Rihanna‘s “SOS,” will compose original songs for the film. Jessica Martin‘s Hero Entertainment produces, with production set to start in February 2023.
“Spinning Gold” screened for buyers at Cannes earlier this week. The film follows Bogart’s father’s career as he discovered some of the most prominent musical talents of the 1970s, including Kiss, Donna Summer, and The Village People.
There’s no word yet if “Spinning Gold” hits theaters last this year, but expect “North Star” and “Marian” to have late 2023/early 2024 releases.
