Todd Phillips Reveals 'The Hangover Part III' Plot Details; Says The Film Centers On Zach Galifianakis' Character & His Personal Crisis

nullThe plot of "The Hangover Part III" has been tightly under wraps since day one. All we've really known is that it wouldn't follow the blackout blueprint of the last two films. "It’s certainly not in the same template that you’ve seen for these movies," director Todd Philips said last year. "The third would be very much a finale and an ending. The most I could say about it…is that it is not following that template but very much a new idea." A vague plot synopsis released earlier this year strongly suggests a road trip scenario, but little else.

Well, now some details are out of the bag, courtesy of Philips himself. " 'The Hangover Part III' is Alan's story," Phillips told Entertainment Weekly about Zach Galifianakis' character. "He's going through a crisis after the death of his father, [and] the Wolfpack is all he has." EW also teases with a few other nuggets, saying the third film "brings the group together when something from the first movie comes back to haunt them." Evidently Vegas is just one of the stops in the film. Could that be Mike Epps or Heather Graham who are both reprising their roles after not taking part in "The Hangover Part II"? As for Ken Jeong's Mr. Chow? "He's darker than ever,'' Philips said, adding that the movie is "a fitting end to this three-part opera of mayhem and bad decisions."

The magazine has also provided two first-look images of the cast, Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha, and Ken Jeong. Co-starring John Goodman, Heather Graham, Jeffrey Tambor, Mike Epps and Melissa McCarthy, "The Hangover Part III" is due in theaters May 24, 2013.nullnull
