Tom Cruise Really Likes Sci-Fi, Eyes Another One In 'Our Name Is Adam'

Tom CruiseMaybe that whole Xenu thing isn't sci-fi enough for him? Either way, Tom Cruise has really been digging the sci-fi genre of late. Earlier this year he wrapped on Joseph Kosinski's upcoming "Oblivion," this fall he's shooting "All You Need Is Kill" with Doug Liman, and now another script is keeping Cruise up at night with a flashlight under the covers.

Variety reports that Cruise is circling something called "Our Name Is Adam," a script penned by T.S. Nowlin who recently made some waves when his "Agent 13" got Rupert Wyatt and Charlize Theron attached. And that's about it other than the tidbit that producer Mary Parent ("Pacific Rim," "The Kingdom") is also on board. But as usual, the caveat here is that Cruise tends to have a number of projects in the works, and likes to give himself lots of options, so it's just as likely that he won't do this.

But it all suggests that no matter what the tabloids say, Cruise is keeping his head down and plowing ahead with work, and the game plan thus far has mostly succeeded. Audiences worldwide mostly don't care about his private life (even if it makes for entertaining reading) and still like to buy tickets to see Cruise be Cruise. But his blockbuster powers will be tested again this Christmas by "Jack Reacher," and keep an eye out, because a new trailer lands later today.
