After the whole debacle that was the universally hated and despised first poster for Tom Hooper‘s “The King’s Speech,” the marketing team behind the film have now pulled their socks up and unveiled a poster worthy of an award season contender led by Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter. Dare we say, this poster is fit for a king.
Hooper himself even criticized the first poster, noting that it was “not going to ever be on any cinema walls. It will be replaced. It’s a train smash. It’s a train smash.” Luckily though, the film’s reception has thus far been anything but that with the story of King George VI and his teaming with speech therapist Lionel Logue to overcome a stammer a complete critic and crowd favorite that has already taken home the People’s Choice award at TIFF and earned an “enthusiastic standing ovation” at Telluride. We weren’t quite over the moon for it when we caught up with it at LFF, but it’s a solid crowd pleaser.
All that remains now is to see how the film fares during the upcoming award season. “The King’s Speech” began its theatrical unveiling on November 26th and if it hasn’t hit a theatre near you, it should be very soon. [YahooMovies]
