Just when you think you’ve seen Tommy Wiseau at his most ludicrous, Nerdist gets a hold of the filmmaker and films one of the strangest audition tapes you’ll ever see. The filmmaker behind cult film “The Room” has recently said that he’d like to have a shot at a “Batman” film as the Joker. But many fans just imagined that the Wiseau-Joker would only exist in our dreams. Well, apparently today is the day that your wildest dreams become reality.
In the three-minute video, you see just what Wiseau would bring to the Clown Prince of Crime. Needless to say, it’s wild, loud, and really odd. His performance as the Joker also gives fans a much better idea of just how great Heath Ledger was as the character. If you don’t do the Joker right, it comes off as laughably bad, and Wiseau is just laughably bad.
But then again, that’s why we love him, right? The mysterious filmmaker is adored because of his attitude and odd, eccentric behavior. When you see Wiseau interviewed, you truly believe that this is his world and we’re all just bit players in his story. Of course, as if you could expect anything else, Tommy’s version of the Joker is basically just Wiseau in makeup, talking with his accent and weird cadence.
Perhaps, the best part of the audition is when “The Room’s” Greg Sistero comes into frame and puts on Batman’s cowl to be the nemesis of the Joker. There you see the electricity between the actors that was so clearly evident in “The Room.” Well, not really, but it just adds another layer of WTF to the whole situation.
Obviously, Wiseau and Sistero are making the rounds, promoting the upcoming Blu-ray release of “The Disaster Artist.” Lord only knows what media outlets will do next with Tommy. One thing is for sure, the Wiseau-Joker experiment was entertaining, and also terrifying. It will forever be seared into your brain, and with the rate that Warner Bros. is going, maybe this is exactly what they need.
