'Toy Story 3' Director Lee Unkrich Starts Work On New Pixar Movie & Will Blog About It

First, let’s get one thing out of the way: Lee Unkrich kind of looks like Ed Helms doesn’t he? Okay, we just had to put that out there, but the real news is that the “Toy Story 3” director has announced on Twitter that he’s starting work on a new movie and to stay updated you’ll have to keep glued to his Tumblr page where he’ll be tracking its progress. “Today is day one on my next project. Every day I’ll post a new photo chronicling the journey,” he tweeted. So what is it? Who knows.

Well, what it isn’t is the recently announced Pixar projects at D23, one centered around dinosaurs directed by Bob Peterson and slated for a November 27, 2013 release and the other helmed by Pete Docter about the formation of ideas inside the human mind and slated for a May 30, 2014 bow. And we also doubt it’s the mystery project Alan Tudyk teased about being involved with recently as it seems way too early in the game for that. So we’ll just have to keep an ear to the ground and an eye on the web. So far on the Tumblr page, Unkrich has posted pictures of his keyboard and what he ate for lunch. Pretty much #stuffwhitepeoplelike.

So while we wait, we have to wonder, is Tumblr going to be a new marketing tool of sorts? Certainly, Diablo Cody likes to use it to get her thoughts out to fans, and “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” is keeping obsessive fans happy with the unofficially official Mouth Taped Shut that has been offering a plethora of behind the scenes looks at the movie. So, we’ll just add Unkrich’s site to our list of sites and await more substantial updates, as well as track his fave foods, as development continues. [via THR]
