When it was announced that Pixar was working on a fourth “Toy Story” film, many fans were confused. After “Toy Story 3” resonated so well with folks, while also coming up with a great ending to the trilogy, it just didn’t make sense that Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the toys would come back for one more adventure. But then the film made over $1 billion at the box office, and it was clear we hadn’t seen the last of the toys.
In the new trailer for “Toy Story 4,” we finally get to see what the toys are up to now. Bonnie has created a new toy, her favorite of all, called Forky and it’s up to Woody to show the new toy just what it means to help children. However, Forky isn’t the easiest to convince and the adventure brings everyone to a carnival, where there are a ton of lost toys and the temptation for Woody to leave Bonnie behind and live amongst more toys.
It’s obvious that there is plenty of hijinks to attract children to the new “Toy Story” film, but there’s also the heart that has made older fans turn into puddles of tears when they watch the films for the first time. Odds are, you’ll probably have to bring some tissues to the theater for this one too.
“Toy Story 4” hits theaters on June 21.
Here’s the synopsis:
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy. Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) and produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”), Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019.
