Track From Daft Punk's 'Tron: Legacy' Soundtrack Leaks

One of our most anticipated soundtracks of the year (we could kinda care less about the movie, really) is that for “Tron: Legacy,” which has been written (and from the sounds of it, already completed) by amazing French electro superstars Daft Punk. The film, a belated sequel to the fondly-remembered-by-those-who’ve-forgotten-how-bad-it is 1982 original, isn’t due for release until December this year, but purported tracks from the band’s work for it leaked as early as last summer, and another now seems to have hit the Internet.

“Fragile,” as the track seems to be called, appears to have been found by daftworld, a fansite for the band, and was picked up by music blog KD Buzz. It certainly sounds like the band’s trademark chiming electro, and it manages to be both atmospheric and danceable. If the whole score (which may be released as a double album) can match this, we’re in for a treat.

Director Joseph Kosinski just talked to MTV, telling the site, “These guys take ‘Tron’ very seriously. Obviously, ‘Tron’ was a huge influence on them. It was almost like they were interviewing me to make sure I was going to hold up to the ‘Tron’ legacy. But the more we talked, we realized that creatively, we were totally synced up. I’ve been working on it with them for over a year and a half. I don’t know of a movie where you’re working on the soundtrack months before you start filming. The level of integration between the music and the film is incredibly strong.”

Damn, we gotta say, that sounds rad.

The robotic duo are set to cameo in the film, which stars Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Jeff Bridges, Michael Sheen and John Hurt. We can only hope that, with a big chunk of new music on the way, the rumors of a new tour for the band are true — the last time they hit the road, the result was one of the best experiences of our concert-going lives.
