The latest salvo against the cliché that Hollywood has run out of new ideas is a movie inspired by spam e-mail. That Nigerian prince who just needs $1,000 to get to his inheritance worth millions, which he’ll gladly share as a reward? Turns out it is Tracy Morgan.
According to Variety, Morgan will star in “Freshman Roommates,” as the bratty son of an African dictator, and who really does need a small cash infusion to claim his inheritance. When he finally gets a response to his e-mail (sent after a night partying), he shows up at the home of the sender. Hilarity no doubt ensues.
The film also stars TJ Miller and was written by John Mulaney and Nick Kroll expressly for Morgan. Here’s hoping they took notes from Morgan‘s character on 30 Rock and not his stint as Professor Xavier in Superhero Movie. And hey, if a movie based on a Nigerian e-mail scam can work, we’ve got a screenplay based on this pill which will make you bigger and make her scream we’d love to sell you. – Jared Weiss
