Exec produced by Quentin Tarantino, directed by John Madden “Shakespeare In Love”) and adapted from Elmore Leonard’s novel, could “Killshot,” be another feather in the cap of comeback kid Mickey Rourke? Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks kind of bad-ass, no?
Madden hasn’t really had a hit since 1998’s aforementioned Academy Award Best Picture winner, but the picture centers on a couple (Diane Lane and Thomas Jane) placed into the Federal Witness Protection program after witnessing a violent incident involving an experienced hit man (Rourke) and his psychopathic young upstart partner (Gordon-Levitt). Having been identified, Rourke and JGL target the couple and try and clean up any evidence of their involvement.
And lol, Johnny Knoxville has a small role as an FBI agent trying to protect the couple. Stock thriller or another brilliant turn for Rourke? Survey says: since word of mouth is almost non-existent and it didn’t screen at any fall festivals, probably not, but Gordon-Levitt playing Cobra Commander and now a psychotic killer? This we may have to see (though maybe not pay to see). The film hits theaters October 20.
