David Fincher hit Comic-Con this past weekend to pimp and hopefully find financing for the gestating comic book adaptation, “The Goon.”
Based on the comics by Eric Powell (who also wrote the screenplay), produced by Fincher and with voice acting by Paul Giamatti and Clancy Brown, the film has been developing for a while. There was actually a panel about the film at last year’s Comic Con, but things have moved along considerably since then as, in anticipation of this year’s event, a brand spanking new teaser was revealed last week.
Now a new longer clip from the film has arrived and it’s okay, but nothing extraordinary. It sort of plays like “Sin City” with zombies and it has a bit of a fun feel, but to be honest, it doesn’t necessarily have us jonesing to watch a full length movie.
Fincher is certainly hoping the material will get some attention as he’s still seeking studio backing for the film. Blur Studios have currently been working on the film but to bring it to the finish line, it will need the support of a larger studio. The film is also still seeking a director but we would guess that will only come once financing to the complete the film is in place. [Bleeding Cool]
